Section outline

    • Supervisors play a crucial role in placement. Because of this, all supervisors must be approved by Vocational Services as those with the ability, experience and time to give to the student.  As a supervisor, you have a formal and an informal function. Your formal function is to assess the student’s effectiveness on placement. These assessments are reflected in the mid-year and end-of-year assessments.  Your informal function is to invest in the student through training and mentoring.

      We expect supervisors to:

      • Have experience in the area of the student’s placement
      • Give the time required to work closely with the student
      • Give both positive and critical input for the duration of the placement
      • For weekly placement supervisors: be willing to submit three forms per annum (Placement Proposal, Mid-Year Assessment, and Year-End Assessment) and to authorise two logs of hours. Please aim to attend one training event (where possible). It is crucial that you support your student(s) by making yourself available for assessment meetings and submitting forms in a timely manner. Failure to do so could jeopardise your student(s) in their placement. If you cannot complete the forms by the deadlines please inform the student so they can apply for extenuating circumstances from Registry.
