Section outline

    • The Programme is rolled out over three years for undergraduate students:

      (i) GET INVOLVED at Level 4

      • Students complete a Self evaluation on arrival at LST to set expectations and begin to understand your call. We get you to think about who you are in Christ (identity); what fires up your faith (motivation) and where God is calling you (vocation).  This evaluation forms a benchmark against which to track progress.
      • Setting up your own Employability folder helps you gather a body of evidence of vocationally- relevant experience across your undergraduate years.
      • Students can undertake Practical Placement on either a curricular or extra-curricular basis.

ii) GET PLANNING at Level 5

      • Students revisit and revise your Self-Evaluation with your Tutor on a 1-1 basis, using it to trigger helpful questions and challenges.

      • Vocational Services run two vocational workshops to help students know yourself, clarify employer expectations, understand how your Theology-based degree meets those expectations, understand what vocational resources are available.  We also think through what makes a good CV and covering letter, and reflect on interview techniques and the do’s and don’t’s of social media presence.

      • Students are offered 1-1 sessions to review your CV and talk through specific vocational pathways and work experience, if appropriate through our Alumnus Mentoring Scheme.

      • Students can undertake Practical Placement on either a curricular or extra-curricular basis.

      • We encourage students to take advantage of our accrediting University, Middlesex’ online employability service, by registering with MDXworks (email mdxworks@mdx.ac.uk and request access, as a LST student.  An adviser will create these login details for you.)

(iii) GET EMPLOYED at Level 6

      • Students revisit the Self-Evaluation and Employability folder with your Tutor for a final push!

      • A final vocational workshop covers any outstanding areas of student concern

      • 1-1 vocational development sessions continue to be on offer

      • Through the second semester live job ads are regularly distributed to all graduating students

      • Students can undertake Practical Placement on an extra-curricular basis.
