Placement is not always easy: you might be placed in a church with a different expression of worship or demographic to what you are used to. As a member of the worldwide body of believers, we want to equip you with the emotional and spiritual resources and depth of character to embrace and learn from such diversity.
Be realistic: it is unlikely that you will be leading a service in week two and preaching by week three of placement! We encourage supervisors, over the course of the academic year, to stretch students to their potential but building trust and earning respect takes time. However, if, over the course of the year, you feel your supervisor is unwilling to give you the responsibility you feel ready for, please be in touch with us.
Be creative: in focus are your gifts, skills and godly character. How, most effectively, can they be invested in and built, through placement? Two placement objectives may be focussed towards the practice of and growth in doing, whilst one, if you choose, can be focussed on developing a personal spiritual discipline ie investing in your godly character, in partnership. For example, you could read a devotional book on different modes of prayer - as long as your supervisor holds you accountable to how the Lord is enabling you to grow through it.
