The aims of this module are to introduce the canonical gospels, in their historical, cultural and theological context, as sources for the historical reconstruction of Jesus’ life and mission, compare these gospels with each other in this respect, investigate the main features of Jesus’ teaching and actions within the context of second temple Judaism, and consider their historical and theological significance.  This module builds on the foundations for New Testament study established at Level 4 complement biblical and theological study of the New Testament and Christology at Level 5, and prepare the ground for further study at Level 6. 

This is a Level 5 Theology Common Core module, shared with the BA in Theology Music and Worship and the BA in Theology and Worship. programmes.
